Polar Bear Sniffing for Seals
Polar Bear Sniffing for Seals
A Polar Bear stops to sniff for seals at a hole in the snow-covered hillside that he's walking on. You can see a depression in the snow that could be the opening to a seal's den and his nose is checking to see if anyone is home. You can see blue ice under the snowy surface in the background. Large rocks in the foreground are uncovered due to receding ice.

Polar Bears are the apex predator, the largest bears in the world. I wanted to see them before they disappear, especially in Svalbard where the ice is melting 7 times faster than anywhere else in the world. I am so grateful for such an incredible and profound experience. I left my heart there and vowed to advocate for arctic wildlife. All images are taken from a respectful and legal distance, using a 600mm lens and many are cropped.
